New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project Update Key Updates Progress and Coordination • The crane is returning to the site today and will remain on-site throughout the week to resume structural steel erection. Steel Installation Structural steel erection is progressing steadily. Current work is concentrated on the west side of the building, including: Masonry Work Block work continues in the southwest portion of the building, including the elevator, fill station, and shower area, to support the precast installation. Work is also ongoing in the elevator lobby, unisex toilets, hydration room, and standby room. Site Work Crews have completed backfilling the atrium foundation where electrical conduits for the future generator connection were previously installed. Work is progressing along the future driveway to Memorial Drive in preparation for the sand filter F-3-A installation. Crane Operations The mobile crane is returning to the site today to continue setting the precast mezzanine and support structural steel erection. For safety reasons, no trades are permitted to work within the crane’s swing radius during operations. Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPFP) Coordination Work continues on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Crews are roughing in piping, conduit, and wiring throughout enclosed areas. Trade coordination is ongoing to ensure alignment with the construction schedule. Access and Parking • No construction-related parking is permitted on Elm Street or Memorial Drive. Environmental Safety Measures Silt fences and silt baskets remain in place for erosion and sediment control. These systems are regularly monitored for compliance with environmental standards. Community Engagement The Fire District encourages residents to stay informed through the District’s website and community bulletins.
