New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project Update Chappaqua, NY
Key Updates
Progress and Coordination
• Crews continue working on structural steel erection, including bolted beam-to-column connections and alignment of framing members. • Metal decking and stud installation are underway. o A third-party engineering firm will be onsite to inspect the stud work. • Safety cabling installation is scheduled to begin next week following completion of decking activities, preparing for the second-floor concrete pour. • Concrete crews are scheduled to return on Wednesday, July 9, to: o Continue work on the southwest planters o Pour concrete on the second-floor deck • Masonry work resumed on June 26 in the southwest section of the building (elevator lobby, corridor, unisex toilets, standby room).
Work will expand throughout the building and continue through August.
Masonry & Framing
• Masonry crews are actively working in the southwest quadrant of the building. • Elevator shaft construction continues to progress. • Exterior block work has begun at the west perimeter of the mezzanine. • Mechanical sleeves for piping systems were delivered and are being integrated with masonry installations.
MEPFP Coordination
• Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection trades are working on rough-ins behind masonry walls. • Work is carefully sequenced to follow the pace of masonry block installation to ensure efficient progress.
Site Work • The stormwater detention system is scheduled for completion by June 25. • Excavation for the southwest planters will follow immediately and lead into formwork and concrete placement. • Materials are being moved from the east to the west side of the site to clear space for sewer connection activities. • Work is ongoing at the future driveway to Memorial Drive, including: o Installation of sand filter F-3-A o Preparation and inspection for the underground detention system F-2
Access and Parking
• No construction-related parking is permitted on Elm Street or Memorial Drive • All deliveries must enter from King Street • Access via Memorial Drive will be scheduled and communicated in advance
Environmental Safety Measures
• Silt fences and silt baskets remain in place and are regularly inspected for compliance with environmental protection standards
