| New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project Update Chappaqua, NY
Key Updates
Sewer Permit Approved: The Town of New Castle approved the sewer permit earlier today for both the sewer repair points and the sewer connection work. The signed permit has been received, and scheduling is now underway for the site contractor to mobilize and perform the necessary work.
Construction Progress: Structural steel framing and metal decking work are ongoing. Concrete planters were poured yesterday, and crews are preparing for the second-floor deck concrete pour and additional concrete work at grade level. Exterior brick and precast materials will be delivered following approval of the masonry mockup.
Interior Work: Layout and installation of sheetrock wall framing on the second floor is underway. Steel plates are being installed on the mezzanine exterior to support the topping slab pour and allow framing to continue. A pressure test of the sewer piping for the apparatus bay trench drains is scheduled, followed by backfilling operations.
Framing and Labor Coordination: The general contractor has requested additional carpenters this week and next week to maintain momentum on second-floor framing activities.
Efforts are ongoing to increase masonry labor on site in order to expedite the completion of blockwork. This work is critical to setting roof trusses and enclosing the building. Resource constraints have been noted due to peak-season workload across multiple projects, as the blockwork scope was delayed into summer months.
Site Work and Coordination
Outstanding work includes: • Backfilling the sewer line in the apparatus bay • Repairing the storm line at the north side of the site • Coordinating underground piping and structure installation at the north end after masonry and drainage work are complete
Masonry and MEP Progress: Masonry work continues in the elevator lobby, southwest quadrant, and along the west perimeter of the mezzanine. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection rough-ins are progressing behind masonry walls in coordination with blockwork.
Access and Parking • No construction-related parking is permitted on Elm Street or Memorial Drive. • All deliveries must enter from King Street. • Access via Memorial Drive will be scheduled and communicated in advance.
Environmental Safety Measures: Silt fences and silt baskets remain in place and are regularly inspected for compliance with environmental protection standards.
