News Update: New Castle Fire District No.1 Modernization Project Update: Excavation and Footing Work to Begin
Chappaqua, NY
The New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project is moving forward with exciting developments. The project team is set to begin excavation work and the forming of footings along the southwest portion of the site. Additionally, excavation of soil along the western portion of the site, adjacent to the existing firehouse, will commence as part of the site preparation.
The next phase of construction will focus on preparing the foundation, with excavation starting immediately to clear the area for the footings.
As part of ongoing efforts to manage erosion and maintain safety, several key environmental measures are being implemented. Silt fences will be installed along the disturbed areas to control runoff, while silt baskets will be placed to catch sediment and prevent contamination of nearby stormwater systems. A tracking pad will also be set up at the site entrance to minimize soil tracking onto surrounding roads.
In addition to the construction work, tree stumps are being removed as part of site preparation, and asphalt work continues to prepare the area for upcoming stages of construction. The removal of the old siren is underway to improve safety and enhance the aesthetic of the area.
Community members are encouraged to stay informed through the Fire District's website and local announcements as construction continues. Updates regarding the project timeline and any potential impacts on local traffic will be shared regularly. The fire district welcomes community feedback and will continue to provide updates throughout the construction phase.
