New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project Update

Key Updates:

Progress and Coordination:
• Steel Installation (Updated!):
Steel erection is underway, officially taking the project vertical. Work includes fall fittings, completing bolted connections between steel beams and columns, installing metal decking, and ensuring all beams are level.
• Masonry Work (New!):
The mason will be mobilizing onsite, bringing materials, scaffolding, and equipment to begin block work. Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPFP) prime contractors will also be onsite to coordinate their work alongside the masonry team.

Access and Parking:
• No construction-related parking is permitted on Elm Street or Memorial Drive.
• All deliveries must enter the site via King Street.
• Any required access via Memorial Drive will be communicated in advance.

Environmental Safety Measures:
• Silt fences and silt baskets remain in place to manage runoff and sediment. These controls are being monitored and maintained regularly.

Community Engagement:
• The Fire District encourages residents to stay updated via the District’s website and community announcements. Key updates will cover project milestones, traffic impacts, and any changes to the construction schedule. Community feedback is always welcome.
