| New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project Update Chappaqua, NY
Key Updates – November 9, 2025
Overall Progress Phase One of the modernization project remains on schedule for substantial completion by March 2026. Crews are taking advantage of the mild fall weather to continue exterior and interior work before winter conditions arrive.
Exterior Work Brick and precast installation continues on all exterior walls and will be ongoing through the next two weeks. This work is shaping the final look of the new addition and tying it visually to the existing firehouse.
Concrete Work Preparations are underway for the next concrete pour in the new apparatus bay area. The materials needed for this work are expected to arrive shortly, allowing the remaining floor slabs to be completed in the coming weeks.
Interior Construction Inside the building, crews are busy finishing drywall installation and framing interior walls on the first floor. Work has also begun on framing around doors and windows. Once scaffolding is adjusted, window installation will move forward, helping to fully enclose the building.
Additional interior progress includes electrical room finishing and final wood framing in the vestibule areas.
Safety Railings & Metalwork Installation of new safety railings has started on the back training deck and in all stairwells. Roof tie-offs are also being installed on the flat roof sections for added safety during future maintenance work.
Roofing Roofing crews are on-site completing the flat roof section adjacent to the existing firehouse. This marks the final phase of the roofing work for the main structure.
Plumbing & Mechanical Systems The project’s plumbing systems reached an important milestone this month with the approval of the backflow preventers. The domestic water heater has also been installed in the mezzanine, and additional mechanical work continues inside.
Site Work & Utilities Recent utility work included successful completion of the sewer lining project, improving long-term performance of the system. Site protection measures such as silt fences and baskets remain in place to prevent runoff and protect the surrounding environment.
Access and Parking • No construction-related parking is permitted on Elm Street or Memorial Drive. • All deliveries must enter from King Street. • Access via Memorial Drive will be scheduled and communicated in advance.
