| New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project Update Chappaqua, NY
November 15, 2025
Project Overview
The modernization project continues to move forward, and Phase One will be substantially complete in April 2026. Crews are working inside and outside the building as we head into colder weather.
Exterior & Structural Work
Brick and precast installation is ongoing and will continue over the next couple of weeks. Prep work for the next concrete placement in the new apparatus bay is underway, with materials expected shortly.
Interior Work
Inside the building, teams are putting up drywall, finishing framing on the first floor, and working around windows and doors. Once scaffolding is adjusted, window installation will move ahead so the building can be fully enclosed.
Mechanical and electrical areas are taking shape, and work in the vestibule spaces is close to wrapping up.
Mechanical & Fire Protection
Ductwork installation is moving along throughout the building. Fire sprinkler work has picked back up, with piping installation underway on both the mezzanine and ground floor.
Some mechanical work has slowed because steamfitters have not been present on-site recently. The project team is working to get that staffing back on track.
Stairs & Building Systems
The main stair to the second floor is nearly complete, with treads and risers mostly installed.
The vendor for the vehicle exhaust capture system visited the site to review layout options. They’re coordinating final locations for their equipment with the District and design team.
Site Work & King Street Coordination
Project representatives met with municipal and utility officials to plan upcoming work along King Street. Materials for this portion were delivered and reviewed on-site.
The roadway work is expected to take about 5–6 days once scheduled. Any water-service shutdown will be kept under eight hours, and nearby residents will be notified ahead of time. Materials will go through one more review before the work is officially placed on the calendar.
Access and Parking • No construction-related parking is permitted on Elm Street or Memorial Drive. • All deliveries must enter from King Street. • Access via Memorial Drive will be scheduled and communicated in advance.
Environmental Safety Measures: Silt fences and silt baskets remain in place and are regularly inspected for compliance with environmental protection standards.
Community Engagement The District remains committed to keeping the community informed: • Visit the District’s website or check community bulletins for the latest updates. • Project reports will continue to outline key milestones, traffic impacts, and schedule adjustments.
💬 Community feedback is encouraged and welcome.
