| New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project Update Chappaqua, NY
December 3, 2025
Project Overview The modernization project continues to progress as crews work both inside and outside the building headed into colder weather. Phase One remains scheduled for substantial completion in April 2026.
Exterior & Structural Work Brick and precast installation continues, with the north side expected to be completed by tomorrow. Work also continues around the adjacent firehouse vestibule, with additional planter and block areas to follow.
Sediment boxes for the trench drains are expected on-site tomorrow. Concrete placement for the new apparatus bay has been scheduled with coordination between concrete crews and engineering inspectors for Thursday, December 4 and Friday, December 5.
Interior Work Drywall installation, first-floor framing, and interior finishing continue to move forward. Work around windows and doors is ongoing, and once scaffolding adjustments are complete, window installation will advance so the building can be fully enclosed.
Mechanical and electrical rooms are continuing to take shape, and work in the vestibule areas is nearing completion.
Mechanical & Fire Protection Ductwork installation is progressing throughout the building. Fire sprinkler piping installation has resumed on both the mezzanine and ground floor.
Some mechanical work has slowed due to recent steamfitter staffing gaps. The project team is working to get that labor back on schedule.
Stairs & Building Systems The main stair to the second floor is nearly complete, with most treads and risers installed. The vehicle exhaust capture system vendor visited the site and is finalizing equipment locations in coordination with the District and design team.
Site Work & King Street Coordination Officials and project representatives recently met to review DOT-related work and revisions required based on field conditions, including valves, disconnect work, and inlets uncovered during excavation.
